Cookies and Storage

We want you to browse our website with complete peace of mind. On this page we explain clearly what the website stores in your browser, why, and how you can clear it whenever you like.

Last updated: 28 September 2026

In short

  • We do not set cookies of any kind.
  • We do not use analytics or visitor statistics, advertising, or social media trackers.
  • We store just one piece of information in your browser: the language you have chosen for the website.
  • The website loads its fonts from the Google Fonts service.
  • WhatsApp and maps only open if you tap or click the link yourself.

What are cookies and local storage?

Cookies are small text files that a website saves in your browser, which your browser then sends back to the website on every visit. Many websites use them to recognise visitors or to track how they move between pages and from one site to another.

Local storage (localStorage), on the other hand, is a small space inside your browser where a website can save a piece of information to read again later on the same device. That information stays with you and is not sent to our server when you visit.

What we do not use

We have chosen to keep our website simple and respectful of your privacy, so it does not contain:

  • Cookies of any kind, whether our own or from anyone else.
  • Analytics or visitor measurement tools.
  • Advertising, marketing tools or tracking “pixels” from social media networks.
  • Maps or videos from other websites embedded in our pages.

That is why you will not see a pop-up asking you to accept cookies: we have nothing to ask your consent for.

What we store in your browser: your language choice

Our website is available in more than one language. When you choose a language from the language menu, or close the language selection window that appears on your first visit, we save that choice in your browser’s local storage. This means the window will not keep appearing on every page.

The only information the website stores
Name Type What is stored Purpose Duration
lac_lang Local storage (localStorage) Only the language code, such as ar or en Remembering your language choice, so the language selection window does not appear again Stays until you clear it from your browser
  • This key does not contain your name or any information that identifies you.
  • It is not sent to us, it is not used for any other purpose, and no one but you can see it.
  • Choosing a language does not automatically redirect you to another page; you decide when to move between languages.
  • To check that your browser allows storage, the website writes a test value called __lac_probe and deletes it straight away, so nothing is left behind.

If your browser blocks local storage, or you are using a private browsing window, the website will still work fully as normal; it simply will not remember your language choice. To change the saved language, just choose a different language from the language menu.

Fonts: a request to Google Fonts

So that our text displays clearly and looks good, our pages load their fonts from the Google Fonts service: one stylesheet from fonts.googleapis.com and the font files from fonts.gstatic.com.

When this happens, your browser connects directly to Google’s servers, which receive the technical information that accompanies any request on the internet, such as your IP address and browser type. We do not send Google any information about you, and we do not set any cookies through this service. Google handles these requests under its own privacy policy.

External links: WhatsApp and maps

Our website has buttons that take you to other services, such as messaging us on WhatsApp or opening the church’s address in a maps app. These services are not loaded inside our pages, and our pages do not connect to them until you press the button yourself.

When you open one of these links, you move to a website or app run by another organisation, with its own cookies and privacy policy, over which we have no control. We recommend reading their policies:

The “Add to calendar” button downloads a small file to your device, which you open with your own calendar app; it does not go through any third party. And if you contact us through the forms on our website, what you write goes straight to our server without any cookies; you will find the details in our privacy policy.

Practical steps

How to clear our website’s data from your browser

You can clear whatever our website has stored at any time. Here are general steps for the most popular browsers; menu names may vary slightly depending on the version and your device’s language.

Google Chrome on a computer
  1. Open a page on our website, then click the icon next to the site address in the address bar.
  2. Choose “Cookies and site data” or “Site settings”.
  3. Choose “Delete data” or “Clear data”, then confirm.
Google Chrome on Android
  1. Tap the three-dot menu, then “Settings”.
  2. Choose “Site settings”, then “All sites”.
  3. Find arabicchurchliverpool.org, then tap “Clear & reset” or “Clear data”.
Safari on iPhone or iPad
  1. Open the “Settings” app, then “Safari” (in newer versions: “Apps”, then “Safari”).
  2. Choose “Advanced”, then “Website Data”.
  3. Find our website’s name and swipe across it to delete it.
Safari on Mac
  1. From the “Safari” menu, choose “Settings”.
  2. Open the “Privacy” tab, then “Manage Website Data”.
  3. Find our website’s name, select it, then click “Remove”.
Mozilla Firefox
  1. Open a page on our website, then click the icon next to the site address in the address bar.
  2. Choose “Clear cookies and site data”.
  3. Confirm the deletion.
Microsoft Edge
  1. Open “Settings” from the three-dot menu.
  2. Choose “Cookies and site permissions”, then “Manage and delete cookies and site data”, then “See all cookies and site data”.
  3. Find our website’s name, then delete its data.

If you cannot find these options, search your browser’s settings for “site data” or “clear browsing data”. And if you would rather nothing were saved at all, use a private browsing window, as everything is wiped when you close it.

If anything changes

If we ever add a service to the website that stores data in your browser or tracks visits, we will update this page and its date first, and ask for your consent beforehand where that is required.
